He is first in the coop late afternoon up on the roost. Still crows and hops on the on odd hen. Wondering if he is hitting extreme old age? Never had a rooster around as long as this one. Life expectancy of a rooster
A breeding rooster not a pot one.

My Oliver died this Aug he was 9 yrs old. My bandy Cochin, Betty, died last year at 11.5. Your boy is getting up there. Good life to live this long.

Thanks for the info! I have a friend who‘s spring hatch has a nice replacement. I’ve left some eggs under a couple of hens. Fear he is shooting mostly blanks. Still finding the odd fertilized ones in the frying pan....

most of my roosters are finished shooting anything useful at about 4 years...after that it seems to be hit or miss and mostly miss LOL. 7 is OLD. definitely. he doesn't owe anyone anything ;-P
