Testing of flock

Post by Pollo Caballo » Sat Feb 20, 2016 4:35 pm

If you send in a chicken to U of Guelph under the Small flock poultry project ( a great option that JimW has already thoroughly covered) it is $25 regardless of the breed (for the necropsy and testing that is done). It is A dirt cheap price for what is done but as previously noted you do need a plan of action should the testing discover any reportable diseases and you need to take into account any costs associated with transportation of said chicken as well as any costs associated with your referring vet. Still a very good way to police what your flock carries ( or better yet what they don't carry).
