Fairy eggs, fairy eggs everywhere fairy eggs!

Some of you may remember “Little People” the tv watching, chick that I hatched last spring. She’s part Cochin and part Barred Rock.

She did get renamed Gilly.
She took her time to begin laying and then only laid for about a month and quit for the winter. I wasn’t too concerned because Cochins aren’t the most consistent layers and she seemed healthy enough. Then this spring she started laying fairy eggs. About every other day. I cracked some open and found no yolk-no meat spot...only egg white. The eggs got a tiny bit larger. All together she laid close to 20 of these tiny eggs...about 5 a week. Then she suddenly started laying normal size eggs-a bit lopsided or wrinkled at first and now they look perfect. She’s a VERY heavy bird. Her abdomen seems heavy to me and it droops down if that makes sense but she moves around the same as the others and still sleeps in the rafters. Any thoughts on what may have happened or just an odd girl and nothing to worry about?

The fat deposit in the abdomen may be affecting shape of eggs, not sure about the fairy eggs, never seen that many, perhaps she was just practicing.
I think you should hire your hen out for acting roles, she has more facial expressions then some actors. :)

No the normal size ones have yolks and once she laid a normal egg they have all been normal...no more fairy eggs. I wouldn't think much of it now if it weren't for her distended abdomen.

Ok so she may possibly have a reproductive problem OR you may have a hen like Wonky or a hen like @windwalkingwolf
has. I was worried about her, ahem, figure until I realised she was fine but always first to the feed and last away and first in the line for treats. SHe's coming up 5 this year.
