INDUSTRY INFECTIOUS LARYNGOTRACHEITIS (ILT) DISEASE ADVISORY
United Counties of Leeds and Grenville
December 14, 2018
On behalf of the four feather boards, the Feather Board Command Centre (FBCC) is issuing an ILT Biosecurity Advisory to all poultry industry service providers operating in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.
FBCC has been notified by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, that a small flock of 7 layer type birds has tested positive for Infectious Laryngotracheitis (ILT). Clinical signs first appeared in late November. The virus has been identified as a wild strain.
Please reinforce your biosecurity protocols if working with flocks or travelling through this area.
For essential visits, apply the following recommended biosecurity measures: wearing boots, protective clothing, hats and gloves/hand washing. All deliveries/loading should be last on the route. Wash and disinfect the truck's wheel wells, tires and steps before proceeding with any other delivery/loading.
Should you be aware of health concerns in flocks you deal with, please advise the farmer to contact their veterinarian as well as their Board.
We anticipate this advisory status to last until late January.
Any changes in status will be posted through the FBCC website at www.fbcc.ca.
You can also subscribe to Disease Alert to receive notifications.
Not confirmed where but believed to be Athens.

Re: ILT in Leeds & Grenville
I'm guessing the flock was someone I tried to help on fb but the person said they had found blood splatter on the coop walls and 7 out of 9 birds were sick. Very sorry for that flock owner.

She had 7 birds, one died, one was culled for testing, and the remaining five seem unaffected but are being "depopulated" this weekend.

So sad. For the birds, and for her. She must be feeling pretty awful about it all.windwalkingwolf wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 5:50 pmShe had 7 birds, one died, one was culled for testing, and the remaining five seem unaffected but are being "depopulated" this weekend.

Terrible disease. A big thank you to the flock owner for having birds tested.
Time for me to do another round of vaccinations over the Christmas holidays.
