So. We had vets here for a cow and asked them about chicken
Either internal layer or infection
Following are my findings
Don’t look if you are squeamish or easily nauseated

Pictures are in reverse order for some reason
First pic should be last pic. So the first 2 are pics of a large lump of infection dissected

Well I'm glad you did that. She would have been in severe pain in very short order even if she wasn't already. Looking at that you couldn't have done any more. Sorry.

She was still eating, drinking and pooping but with that large of a swelling something wasn’t right. So we put her out of her misery
She was with her flock until the end anyway
