I have one baby duckling that was in our swamp with no parents or other babies
I left it over 1/2 hour nothing
Soooooo it's in my chick box on our deck
My question is. Can I feed it the medicated chick starter?
I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that it would kill them?

Ps. For now doing a hard boiled egg for it and cut dandelions greens into tiny pieces

I know nothing about ducklings they must not have medicated starter. Hopefully someone else will chip in.

I read that you can give the ducklings medicated chick starter as long as it is amprolium in it. Totally safe for ducks. They used to use something else that was not but apparently that was a very long time ago. The only difference is that you need to give it extra niacin which is important for ducklings. I did a bit of research because I wanted to add ducklings to my group of chicks. I decided not to in the end but that is the research I found. I guess people still say that the medicated starter is not safe but apparently that is untrue.

Hi everyone, we've done ducks for several years now. We have started them on either chick starter or turkey starter (non-medicated), although the recommendation is turkey/gamebird starter for 6 weeks at 24% at least. Our ducks (runners, pekings, cayugas) are tough as nail and can endure more dirt, mess, goop, etc... compared to chicks. Enjoy, hopefully it befriends you and sticks around :)
Oh, no grit. And, if they're a heavier breed, add some brewers yeast for niacin.

Based on advice from a wise man it was brought to my attention that momma duck was probably around there somewhere
So very early I released it back into swamp
Not too long after, it had a little brother or sister swimming along with it!
