Hi everyone, I posted a while back about a lucky ILT outbreak... fast forward now, I'm doing my first batch of chickens. Pen was disinfected well with Virkon, and I try my best to maintain biosecurity regards fomites. The broilers are now 3 weeks 5 days and have recently started sneezing. I look at them carefully every day, and up to today could not see any other symptom (no gasping, no crusty eyes, no discharges). They are alert and happy, but today I did find two instances of bloody something... poop or mucus. They look ok, but I am on high alert.

They're coming out of chick crumbs onto mash, and I change their water twice a day and give electrolytes/vitamins. Thougts? Should I vaccinate my broilers for ILT? If so, where do I get the vaccine - near Ottawa.

Possible coccidiosis. I would treat with AMprol. ARe they on medicated feed?

Thank you for the reply killerbunny, no they are not on medicated feed. I could give them coccidosis treatment, but I am a tad surprised at that suggestion looking at the list of symptoms. I didn't know that coccidosis caused sneezing, I thouht it was mostly associated with fatigue and lack of appetite. As always , your advice and guidance is welcome.

I would give them vetrx I think its called, warm it up and a couple drops in their water should make them right as rain as long as its not serious.

Well they look good now, sneezing has subsided, and they will have outdoors access starting Saturday which should help. It's just been so damn damp!!! Also, they are steadily marching towards end date in 23 days so I could probably afford to take chances. Fingers crossed!

Good to hear it seems to have blown over! If something nasty does seem to take hold, you can always process them as "Cornish game hens".
