Higher protein feed for molt ?

Walked in the barn this morning and the floor is covered in feathers.
Apparently at least 6 Wyandottes decided this is October and dropped most of their feathers.
Normally I would let them do their own thing, but not fond of January molt so looking for a little pick me up for them.
They are on free access to 18% protein layer pellets, apples greens and oats in the morning and Scratch in the evening.
I would like to stay with prepared feed of some sort and remember people mentioning feed containing animal protein, but not sure if it was game bird starter? possibly Syble mentioned?
I have used Pure Veg before, but it's vegetable protein and requires trip to Kemptwille so wonder if there are other choices out there anybody used successfully ?

Unfortunately it makes all sorts of sense, molt starts at the head, just a sign of things to come.

Yup a bunch of mine decided January was good time to be naked too! You can get higher protein layer base (40%) which I mix in with the mash. Getting mine from Rooneys but you should be able to get similar from your feed mill.

Interesting, I suspect not easily available in Ontario, I already get funny reaction asking detailed questions about feed contents, can't even imagine what I would get asking for trout pellets.
I would be afraid anything containing fish based protein would affect egg taste.
