PMV found in Pigeons (only) (2017 Jan 9)

The following letter has been forwarded to me today by several individuals .. I can not verify the validity of this letter nor do I know this individual personally , but do know several with pigeons in the USA that are experiencing loses of birds of 50-75 % ... very concerning... Please see the attachments

Yikes, my sympathies to the fanciers trying to deal with this. Same virus that causes Newcastle disease in chickens?

I can't really see the post but that's sad if people are losing that many. I guess the wild ones will carry the disease everywhere.

As I understand it , this virus does not affect poultry other than they can carry the virus ... Vaccination is the key to controlling this virus...
I got word last night that the CPFA National " Canadian Pigeon Fanciers Association " National meet being held in Sarnia Next month has been canceled due to this issue. It was the right thing to do IMO.... The Poultry show is a go but no pigeons will be allowed to show at either the National or the club meet in Sarnia ..
