Comb and wattle inventory after the Big freeze...
alright, i spoke too soon. i have a couple of younger cockerels that will lose their points....they were on the "to be processed" list for this coming weekend. amazingly, my white leghorn rooster, who has the biggest fattest floppiest comb EVER has only got one little spot on the very back point of his comb. and tonight is going to -18 AGAIN, which means there will probably be more....up and down and up and down temps....no good.

Buckeye rooster with frostbite, (those dark spots are blood) from January:

Red sex link cross hen with frostbite, from January: - the black in her nostril is from the dust bath.

Vaseline and dust baths don't mix:

The only birds with frostbite this year are my 2 Swedish Flower hen roosters (sounds weird). All the Chanteclers, Dominiques, Barnevelders, Ameraucanas, and Wyandottes are fine. Pretty good for an open air/front coop :)
