Tom advice

I have a 4 yr old bronze tom who has been fine until recently. He has been getting aggressive with me. Yesterday he came at me feet first and hit me the chest before biting me, usually he just bites he in the arse. No killing him is not an option. I have pinned him down until he submits and that works for a short periods of time. He has never been like this before. We do have quite the coyote problem right now. Could that be his problem? I am not about to get me arse kicked by a bird, so advice on me winning this battle would be appreciated.

lock him up. i had an aggressive beltsville towards kids. and he would not stop no matter what. he was xmas dinner.

its probably just the time of year and raging hormones, he sees you as another Tom and hes trying to win dominance. be careful around him, I thought my beltsville was crazy and he was only 25lbs. I bet your old tom is WAY bigger.

yep, confine him where he cannot get to you. if the behaviour continues after the active breeding season is over (july-ish) process him and put him in the deep fryer and enjoy him because he won't ever change.

PS , friend of mine lost an eye from a big "Randy " tom years back . Caught um from behind knocked him down & either claw or spur put a big hole in it . Careful

I did wait until I had offspring from him for the genetic diversity. I was worried his offspring would be aggressive as well but he isnt. I have a hen and a jake from him and my original tom and 2 hens.

sheessh Ross! i could so see that happen! mad toms are nuts! especially when equipped with those massive spurs!

Time of year for sure. I just came in from locking up my Artisan Gold Tom in "turkey jail" as he has been a real jerk lately, not with humans just anything with feathers, so he has gone for a time out.
