Today, something new happened.I had let all our birds out to free range - turkeys, rustic rangers, and hens. All of them were nearby because I had just come out of the cucumber patch. The turkeys were nearest to me and seemed like they were curious. They don't even eat cucumbers.
Anyway, as I always use gardening gloves when around the birds, I had them (and the cucumbers and paring knife) in my egg basket. I accidentally dropped a glove. A turkey hen picked it up and ran with it!!!
Far be it for me to go chasing after a turkey! After distributing the cucumber slices, I went around the corral to where they were and could not find the glove in all the tall weeds. I'll find it at some point.

@KimChick yes! Turkeys LOVE gloves. They will peck and scrabble at it. Basically it's a toy for them. They are incredibley curious. DH is always looking for gloves they've stolen.

No kidding!?! That is funny!
I did find my glove this morning. After feeding the birds, I went around the corral to the other side of the barn where the turkeys were yesterday. There was my glove, under the lean-to, by the tractor tire. I couldn't see it yesterday because the birds were all there and a couple of toms were fighting.
We have more toms than hens this year. That's OK; they'll be in freezer camp soon.

@lolotsung yes. They are called turpuppies for a reason. New owners have to be aware what they behave like and in the case of commercial breeds MUST be prepared to have them processed. If not they can get into health issues and be on restricted diets.
