Thanks Kenya & Jaye. I'm glad to hear that he just sounds like a normal rooster, he guards his girls well and he is always good with people - It definitely crossed my mind that I could trade him in and end up with one that is meaner.

I'll make or buy some hen saddles asap and hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to tell how many pullets I've got out of my chicks and go from there. I will try to get him up to 6-8 hens in the next little while.
