Rooster Honk

Does anyone know why a rooster would honk? for lack of a better description. It's very loud, as loud as the crowing.
There is the usual cock-a-doodle-do, and the beep-beep when he found something for the hens.

Yep, they honk when their throat is irritated and their tracheal opening at the base of their tongue is partially blocked. Most commonly from being piggies and eating dry food too quickly.

Interesting. Now, I'll take note where he is when he honks, and when - in the enclosure, or out free ranging.

Now I know where he got his noises from! He's been watching the Three Stooges on TV too often!
There ya go! Now I get it!

It's anytime; I think he just likes to be heard.
