We have had 2 barn cats - one was in the barn when we moved in, then it left. Another showed up, then it left, too. Both times, we left a bit of food out so it wouldn't starve, but neither of them stayed. Maybe it was too boring.
Now that a mouse and chipmunk population may be more established with the influx of available chicken feed, a cat might stay and catch a few.

Not according to this: Search for "Chipmunk"
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't find that online, which tells me that: a) it's not common knowledge and b) it's not accessible for the regular person to research it.
It keeps redirecting me back to Species at Risk, and Chipmunks are not on that. Do you have a link to that document where I can see it in its entirety?
Also, the Friends of South Frontenac site used to have a list of animals on the Threatened List. I cannot even find that anymore. The Black Rat Snake was on that list.

So, now that I know the language of that subtitle, I Googled it. All I could find was this, nothing specific:

Other species

The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act also protects wildlife species that aren’t hunted. This includes some species designated as “specially protected” or considered “wild by nature.”
