Do chickens REMEMBER?

We had a nasty incident about a month ago.
A mink got into the coop & killed one of my girls.
The Mink had a hold of another hen by the throat when I scared him off.
The remaining pair of birds in the coop were screaming bloody murder.

The trio had been moved to a new coop section that day
I would like to move them back to their original pen -
BUT I worry they could remember the horror & be stressed.

Do you think the chickens would remember the drama?
OR suffer anxiety being put back in that section?
I haven't got a CLUE, so any thoughts PTO?

Chickens remember each other and people for sure. I sent 3 chickens to a lady for 6 months on loan (don't ask). When they came home they ran straight over to the coop they came from originally and clearly recognised the other chickens and vice versa. Don't know whether they would stress? Only way is to try?

They will remember but they will get over it, just a little more jumpy at first.

The other birds that remember are turkeys. WWW had some from me a while ago and at the PikNik one of the little hens kept coming over to DH for attention! I think I should be offended but.....

OK I won't chance it....will move another flock there.
New flock is a bit bigger so hoped they could stay in bigger pen.
Nothing is perfect - just happy he only killed 1 bird!

THANXXXX Y'all!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about the chickens remembering, I would worry about the mink remembering. Good luck with it.

:rip: NOT :Shark: FUNNY! :sSig_censored:

I thoroughly cleaned the pen & @ nite returned the "original" flock to the pen.
I knew if I put the larger flock in there, it would result in fighting over the winter months.
The returning flock has a visual to the pullets who will join them in the spring
They were fine, but were chatty the next day, but today they acted normal
The second attack was in the outside pen, so I will wait a few days to let them out.

ALL is WELL "so Far"
