Hmm @kenya I hadn't thought of that. Quite possible. I've had everyone on higher protein food (duck grower) for a few weeks. The two that I've seen picking on her haven't begun to molt yet. Regardless she is in the house and taking all the extra attention and treats she can get. My coop is actually two rooms so once she's calmed down some she can go back out with her two "old girl" friends. I just hope that patch of feathers comes back in again. @ross good idea. The rooster is up next for the photo booth tomorrow so he will get a bit of extra work done on him. Anybody ever tried one of those battery operated dog nail files on a bird? Think I will give it a shot.

I have an old pedi paws that i do use on my birds, it does work very well. however the reviews of the new version of pedi paws sucks, dont buy a new one because they are not of the same quality.

the beginning of the breeding season, whenever I bring in new birds or even If I part with some, i clean up the nails and beaks. I just make them not sharp, it only takes a few minutes.

i recently watched a video where the guy cut a small hole in a towel, put the birds head through it, then carefully wrapped the bird up so it couldn't move, thrash around or otherwise hurt itself while he worked on the bird. I've never done that but it sure as heck was a great idea, after wrapping the bird up he just sat it on his lap, just like having another set of hands.

I really like the coarse Amopei for claws and spurs. WOrks for turkeys too.

Yes but check whether it's the coarse or fine grade. Mine's coarse and it's pink! Stephen is such a sweetheart about getting his nails done.

Well Harley was a good boy and let me file his nails down no problem with the dog nail grinder. Flipped him on his back and he laid on my legs frozen. Probably still stunned from his movie star moments in the photo booth lol. His spurs are pretty short still and very blunt so didn't attack them...yet.
My poor girl's back is yellowish bruising now. She's just now showing some signs of restlessness in her cage so will get her in the outdoor pen today (alone for now) She's been eating like a horse so I think they may have been keeping her from food.
