Ameraucana Fact or Fiction?

13495 If I recall the shell disappears. Correct? I didn't know the pigment could be washed off. Very interesting. If you rub blue off you get? LOL like robbie said. the blue cannot be rubbed off. only the brown. because the brown is "painted" over the shell, while the blue is incorporated right int...

Ameraucana Fact or Fiction?

Yes, very good! the boys will grow in with more black on their wings and the girls will have more wheaten (kind of a browny yellow earthy colour) on the wings. oh, and commonly the chicks will have pinkish legs...that's okay, they'll darken to slate as they get older. The wheatens don't have as many...

Ameraucana Fact or Fiction?

Yes Wheaten is an Ameraucana SOP colour. So is blue wheaten. They should NOT have feathered legs. Legs should be slate, not yellow or green. the chicks for wheatens are yellow-not chipmunks. If someone tries to sell you wheaten ameraucana chicks that look like chipmunks they are on the wrong genetic...

Royal Palm, Blue Palm or Lavender Palm?

If they are blue then the next generation should give me lavender, slate blue and royal back-that would be neat. :-) kinda like that whole blue/black/splash thing with chickens, just lavender/slate blue/royal in turkeys LOL. no splash that i know of.....guess we'll just have to wait a while to find ...

Ameraucana Fact or Fiction?

LOL....yep, dinosaurs. (at least between 5 and 14 weeks they sure look like it too!) Lots of people sell ees as ameraucanas, or americanas. best to know the chick down colour and the SOP for adult colours so you can make an informed decision on buying them, or buy from a reputable breeder. In a whit...

Chicken Or The Egg?

I love it!

being one of these people that believes in evolution and genetics....the genetic recombination that gives rise to a chicken vs a non-chicken happens just after fertilization, so this means that the egg must have come first. :hide:
