Keeping quail

They are strong little birds and grow so fast. And poop so much for a little thing. I will be hatching some come spring.

Keeping quail

Before I left for work this morning I took a picture of how the quail spend their night out in the open. Every night they are in the same area even in the worst weather conditions. This was taken at five this morning.

I would go with a parrotlet they are the same size as a budgie but way smarter plus they talk. I had one for a long time his name was pickle.

They lay everywhere. In the winter the eggs are frozen before I get to them so my dog gets a couple frozen quail butt nuggets. In the summer I send the kids up to get them. I have read that chukers can be bad at breeding time. I have no idea yet this will be my first time breeding them. I had a pair a couple years ago but a predator got them. This is my first time with pheasant and am really enjoying them. They are a really beautiful bird and at only $10 each i figured...

only the two right now. They will be moved before spring to there own cage. Keeping them together now so less work for me over the winter. I am surprised how well they are getting along. I am sure come breeding time the chuker will go on a killing spree.

I call the male pheasant Archie because he has two girlfriends Betty and Veronica.
