Re: Boy vs Girls 2018.

I'm pretty sure I've got 7M-5F out of the dozen hatched so far (all back yard/heritage types), but I lucked out earlier this spring when my 5 straight run Blue Ameraucana all turned out to be girls!!!

I thought we were done...

Oh boy....more babies. Perhaps I should mention the fact that I already had 3 broodies out of 6 hens... make tha...

Damn! Fox! Gonna lose at least one today :(

I have 13 chicks with 3 broodies right now, as well as a rooster, 5 juviniles, and 3 other hens and they all free ...

Yellow skin is a disqualification in showing, and means they are really poorly bred or not pure Amerauca...

I've had chicks hatch at home before but I've always let Momma hen and nature take its course. Bluebell hatched 1 egg last Wednesday and another Friday and then she was done. Took her 2 babies and left the last 2 eggs. Saturday noon i decided to throw out the non viable eggs that she left and as im ...

Re: Practising Survival Skills

Glad she made it home! Peach got lost during the first snowfall last year. It was bitter cold and blowing. I checked everywhere and finally gave up...but couldnt just leave her so went back down an hour later, in the pitch black with my headlamp. Finally found her about 15ft from the coop, huddled i...
