First Aid Kit
Just a word of caution first... please don't just prophylactically throw treatments at the bees in panics without first fully analyzing the situation and then using the correct dosage of the right thing at the right time. Bee's aren't chickens. They are, or were and still could be, wild insects that...

Flow Hive
As someone who already keeps bees, some of the advertising was off to me and more geared to people with no beekeeping experience... Using flow frames to avoid "stressing" the bees is just silliness because you have to open and manipulate the hive on a semi regular basis in order to inspect the hive ...

Hey Sandy, so youre buying a couple double deep colonies? that's a good way to go for a quick start, and even should ensure a honey crop in your first year which is not a guarantee when starting from Nucs. I've never heard about the Garlic thing... Hive location is always tough, you cant always have...

Setting up Breeding Groups
Here's a question on setting up breeding groups that is likely not too important, but I figure I'd come to the pros for a consensus ;) I am about to set up a breeding group of partridge chanteclers to breed them pure away from my many mixed birds. My main coop where they all are right now has two ro...

Sap is a running!
finally a bit more sap ran today in my region. Haven't hardly got anything in over a week. I collected around 30 gallons or so from my 54 taps and it was still running. Funny though, some running very well, some hardly running at all.

Not a problem!
Bee hive kits at TSC are way overpriced. if you can find a local bee supply shop you will get better deals than the big box places. I know a beekeeper in London, which is a bit away from where you are, but maybe he could point you in the right direction?

I believe foundationless is good. It allows the bees to make cells any size they want rather than being restricted to the foundation we impose upon them, they can make as much drone comb as they want, which is more like how the bees are in the wild, and if you want to, you can cut a nice piece of co...
