Wax?
Hi everyone, we raise Pekins for meat. Last year we had great success with duck wax, but I just processed 4 (two came in at 7 pounds at 7 weeks!) with paraffin and it was hell. Problem is, I can't seem to find anywhere close that will sell duck wax. Any ideas?

Re: The disgrundled gardeners complaint
Yeah... I escaped the frequent hail in and around Ottawa, but had to hit reset on tomatoes and squashes twice. Peas and beans doing great, tatties as well but everything else is blah. Ah well.

Re: ILT or something else?
Cool pics :) My layer's coop has a good airflow mechanism. There is a ceiling hatch and the top of the barn is ''leaky''. Ammonia goes up, draft picks it up there. I've never smelled anything in the coop itself, even in winter.

Anybody interested in pooling for LT-IVAX in SDG/Prescott&Russell ?
Hi everyone, I want to vaccinate my small flock of 60 birds for ILT. Both small flocks vets in the area can get it but only 10,000 doses at a time (!), i.e. 10 vials of 1000 doses. I need two for two treatments, but if there are some people interested we may be able to split the cost. Please let me ...

Re: ILT or something else?
The ''coop'' is a barn. So I have a couple of ventilation options, really, opening barn doors. which I normally do at night. THe other end of the barn also has windows, I leave them ajar. I may be installing more windows this year so I can leave them open. They are happier now.

I went with the ammonia answer. There was a faint smell indeed. Changed the bedding over today, added some stall dry as well. Thanks everyone

ILT or something else?
Hi everyone, your usual person freaking out following his ILT episode. One of my meaties is doing a classic ilt syndrome, extending its neck and gasping, BuT! I only observed it twice, once was straight under the heat lamp. Immediately took it outside in the duck pen where it been happily running ar...

Re: Baby duckling
Hi everyone, we've done ducks for several years now. We have started them on either chick starter or turkey starter (non-medicated), although the recommendation is turkey/gamebird starter for 6 weeks at 24% at least. Our ducks (runners, pekings, cayugas) are tough as nail and can endure more dirt, m...

Re: Where to procure ILT TCO vaccine
You are all great  Thank you for helping me out and the advice; I've confirmed that the vet who took care of me here (Dundas Veterinary Services in Winchester) can get the vaccine for me, and they have done it for others in the past. As for administering, my wife and I will league to make it...

Re: Post ILT broilers, moderate sneezing
Well they look good now, sneezing has subsided, and they will have outdoors access starting Saturday which should help. It's just been so damn damp!!! Also, they are steadily marching towards end date in 23 days so I could probably afford to take chances. Fingers crossed!
