Re: Your opinion wanted: white eggs.

Ginger bread men question
I am wondering if anyone has some suggestions. I am making ginger bread men, it asks for one forth cup of shortening but I only have butter, I have tried to substitute butter for shortening before and it doesn't work if I use the same amount. Should I use more or less butter? Any suggestions are wel...

Re: Your opinion wanted: white eggs.
I had a post on PSO about leghorns etc getting a bad wrap because of white eggs. There is no problem with white eggs. Myself personally I don't raise white egg layers because my costumers want brown eggs, same with people who want chicks, they always stress that they want brown or green egg layers, ...

Re: Hen or rooster?
I'm going to say I "think" both are roosters. At only 8 weeks I would put money down on the rose comb being a rooster for sure. My Wyandott pullets at four and a half months don't have that much red in their combs. The other I am pretty confident is a rooster as well but don't eat it or something be...

Re: The problem with older hens.
Actually WLLady you made me feel better, I lost my oldest at seven and her daughter at five this summer. I wondered what I did wrong since some have made it close to ten before. Robbie, no I would say this hen (standard Cochin) was easy going, I think what is part of the problem is two older hens ar...

Re: My Cornish rooster just dropped dead. :-(
Wow! That's just crazy about WLLady losing all your birds. I heard there were problems I didn't know it was that bad. Imagine a barn of ten thousand and a bad lighting storm comes through! Robbie welcome to the joys of farming, this kind of annoying thing will happen over and over. I didn't know the...

The problem with older hens.
One thing that I don't like about older hens is how it can become harder to keep them just because they get so cranky with each other. For instance in my pens of young birds, everyone piles onto the perch and are happy to snuggle up together. On the other hand, in a pen of older birds, I just watche...

I think that is what you get when you cross a goat with Donald Trump.
