No heat here, the main layer hens do have a heated bowl so they have access to plenty of water 24/7. The silkies all dog pile in their respective coops and the main layers have enough in there to keep the mini barn they house in pretty decent...

The dogs had some funny quirks though...chasing planes and flocks of geese overhead across the field! We chose the Pyrenees because of their size and general good nature towards people as we always had lots of visitors and worried about aggression and they were the sweetest dogs to those they knew....

I too have heard Khaki and runners.. mind you my 'scovies could lay up a storm too but they do so to have babies...

I have had the best luck with dog houses... easy to clean and move around... i had(well still do but it's gone to the chickens.. literately lol) a small barn built for mine but they generally were not a fan...

I mainly have Muscovy though, what breed are you looking at?
