Re: Chicken Love, the lengths we will go to

Yes, it's a dude. Sorry LOL. Like already said, wash it up thoroughly and look closely for ingrown feather, he should not be ripping himself apart unless severely protein deficient, which means there's something wrong with him. Other birds will see the red blood and go after him, but if he's a 'good...

Re: PTO PikNik 2016

OK. Here's the deal from my point of view. I'd LOVE it if y'all (please excuse the ridiculous contraction) would come East for this thing. I'd like to host a big ol' brain-picking party at my new farm. I'm breaking out of my shell for the first time in a couple decades, and getting comfortable being...

Re: Sportsman "hack"

OK, Robbie, I'm pretty sure you were told!!! We all knew you were lost the second you got it :D and welcomed you to the fold. Just you wait until you actually hatch something! Doesn't matter if you put 60 eggs in and only 3 chicks come out (which happens...steel yourself...) those 3 chicks make you ...

I thought I had it bad :D Just remember, the answer is always HATCH. Hatch now, hatch often, hatch all. Just in case :D

Re: LED lighting: does it work for chickens

Just a piece of speaker wire (thermostat wire same thing) bare end wrapped around antenna, other end out the window should help. Some of those lights are really horrible for rf interference though...unscrew a bulb at a time to find the offender .

Re: performance Poultry

Oh yes, some VERY good breeders of games right here on this board! Which is why I crossed the Moderns off my list LOL
I've got my list whittled down now to 3 breeds, 35 chicks. Don't need Houdans since a couple people from my area are getting them or already have. Yay me!

Re: performance Poultry

Aaaggghhhh I can't decide, I keep crossing stuff off but then changing my mind! Anyone know if Doug has black silkies and will be selling chicks? If so, I can cross them off.

Re: Raw pumpkin/squash seeds?

Chickens and turkeys don't have the receptors in their mouths for hot and spicy that we do. You can feed them pure cayenne powder and they'll never notice. They can smell and taste the flavour of the pepper/pepper seeds, but not the heat. It won't affect/burn their behinds either, on the way out, si...

Re: performance Poultry

I was 'thinking out loud (/in writing)' as I often do, Bodabing :) I've only ever ordered from PP once-- last year, I got black JG chicks. The quality of what I got was my complaint., but apart from that, my experience with them (PP) was very positive. The owner accommodated my order changes and pic...
