Re: Field Rats
Location, location......changed the spot from where we got the first 6....and bingo. Like your ideas of the antifreeze....knew to always keep it well away from the hounds etc.....never thought of using it as a rat poison. Thank you! I’ve done my chasing in the past too, with the butt of the rifle af...

Re: Field Rats
Our cats don’t seem to be that effective. I’m thinking it’s because the buggers are dropping in from above into a relatively sealed spot...the coops. I’ve got the dogs doing the outside circuit, but that relies on timing or a really dumb one with a death wish LOL. I hate rats with a passion. Grrrrrr...

Happy Holidays...Merry Santa
Going to be a different season for most of us. I know we will be missing a lot of family for our Santa magic...some will have to wait for a whole year. Burr is on it....he keeps the chimney well guarded...at least, when he is awake LOL. Have a good week! We’ll be toasting in the new year...with hope...

Re: Christmas cake
I’m not keen on it...I like my fruit in one hand and my nuts in another......ummmmm, keep it clean folks. That being said, my husband’s mom made the best hard sauce that went over her homemade cakes. She would start those cakes in August....as she soaked them in rum. I always passed the cake and wen...

Re: Breeds you were disappointed in and why.
I’ve Cooper Marans For a long time and never had the blood spots, I do find the hens pretty calm and good producers. The 2 roosters that I’ve tried ended up in the pot, way too aggressive. Seems odd given the hens’ personalities. I also have Ameraucanas, not Easter Eggers, but the pure ones. I will ...

Re: Bamboo
I totally agree...keep it in pots. Don’t let that stuff get into your ground. I was amazed how invasive it was even in our climate,
