Processed Some Ducks on Sunday

Yes, I don't think I would dare BBQ one. Thanks for the comments everyone! We roasted the Muscovy on Saturday for dinner. Rubbed a little olive oil, fresh rosemary, raw garlic, pepper and some salt on it. Roasted it at 475 for about 45 minutes. It turned out well. There was a slight pink still to th...

Processed Some Ducks on Sunday

How did I do? :big chicken: The two on the left are mallard derived mixed domestics, on the right is a young muscovy. I still had to singe them some before I snapped this pic, but I think they turned out pretty good. This is the first time that I did not dry pluck my birds. I dipped these guys and i...

Hey coonhound.

I have a quad of Silver Appleyards that should provide me some great ducklings in the spring if you are interested. Holderread stock. Perhaps if you have some luck with your Saxonys we could work out an exchange and a meet. Just a thought.

The two duck BEIs that I have left now put themselves in the pen with the large breeds. I guess they learned. Hopefully they will teach the new ones I get down the road. I'd hate to have to not free range them with the rest. It is nice to see them do their ducky things.

Excuse my ignorance.... What is the OPB? WWW - so true... I did hit up the Norwood Fair but there were none available for sale. Checked out Hoard's Station too but struck out as well. I will keep you in mind for the spring coonhound. Nice looking bird. You are a bit too far away for me but maybe you...

So an update on my BEI project. I had a run of bad luck with them this summer. I got a decent amount of eggs from them. I tried incubating 3 batches but did not have a lot of success. I had a few females hatch. I tried letting the ducks sit themselves but they would interrupt each other and abandon ...

Coturnix quail

Hey HeathMarie,

I don't know where you are but I'm in the Peterborough region. I have an incubator full of cot eggs cooking right now. Hatch day will be around April 5th. If you are interested, let me know. I also sell fertile quail eggs. I have several colours.

Chris.
