Re: Coronavirus - how much do you worry ?
This is me now, at work. Day in, day out. It's hot. It's humid. I can barely breathe. It got old long ago. It's inconvenient. But it's necessary to keep our parents and grandparents from dying, and to keep younger folk from losing 10-20 years off their lives, so I suck it up and pant in the humidity...

Re: First 2020 set broody
I've had several broodies so far this year. One momma is raising 4 chicks (none of them hers) and 4 ducklings. It's going swimmingly, sometimes literally. Shhhh, don't tell her.

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning all! So much going on here. Everyone is broody. I have hens sitting on eggs everywhere. I have a hen that has spontaneously stolen and adopted three ducklings and a gosling. I have a turkey hen raising 4 chicken chicks, and it's the weirdest thing I've ever seen: when momma says "quiet"...

Re: Best way to prevent pests
So would you keep the ferret outside? Put it out on a leash? Would the scent alarm the birds too? Keep the ferret in your house, and spread its litter or bedding around your coops. No, the birds are not seemingly bothered by the smell of weasel urine/scat. The sight of them, however, will freak the...

Re: What should be done with ILT survivors?
I had ILT almost decimate my small flock of exhibition quality Jersey Giants about 7 years ago. I decided to try and save what I could, and prevent the spread to my other coops. Between what the disease killed, and what I culled because they were struggling and not really getting better, I lost 12 J...
