Poor thing. Looks a lot like an advanced stage case of scaly leg mites to me. Are the tops of his legs bleeding or just really raw? Doug is right - best get some hatching eggs lined up, if you plan to expand your flock this year: Broodies have their own timetables and they don't necessarily align with your plans.
