Re: Making Babies

So this afternoon we had about 8 pipped quail, went to one of my daughters graduations and came home to 1 freshly hatched quail! And many more pipped n zipping! Our first quail in a very long time, I almost forgot how tiny they are!

Re: Making Babies

I found 1 pipped quail last night. It seems to be zipping a bit right now but last I looked, it was the only one. Tommorow is the expected day of hatch. Its not a very good pic but ah well. Lol.

Re: Making Babies

31 quail eggs made it to lockdown. Fingers crossed they all make it. I saw a couple internally pipped. :xfingers:

Re: Making Babies

Well its been 2 weeks since we picked up the royal palm turkey poults, I think its time for an update! Lol They have been out in the big brooder for 5 days now and I swear they have grown 3X the size since we got them, they are doing excellent. The pattern is starting to show up nicely in there feat...

Re: Making Babies

Well give her some eggs (if you want) and find out. Breaking a broody chicken can be done but some people might not like or agree with the practice. However it can be humanely done.

Re: Early Birds

I agree with KB but at some point the chicks will have absorbed all the yolk they have inside them. I don't know when I would remove them, maybe 36 hours but have a plan to immediately raise the humidity because it will fall. I have a spray bottle that I put warm water in and spray the eggs before I...

Re: Early Birds

Don't sweat it, early pippers or hatchers are just from eggs that were a bit warmer than the rest. You've done all you can now keep that lid closed! I've had a couple birds completely hatch while still in the turners and fall to the floor when it was lockdown day. I just removed the birds and they w...

Re: Making Babies

Last group of chicks have been removed from the brooder and quickly settled in. This makes me so happy. And the turkeys are now in the big brooder.

Re: Random Pics

My boys new kitten... born here with 4 other boys. His name is Chase and he's crazy playful! Since I mentioned him in KB's thread I figured I have to post a pic. This is him in his calm state, sleeping. Lol Screenshot_20230531-230826_Gallery.jpg He also plays with the dogs, Brena could care less but...
