Re: Cold weather blues

I agree with Happy ,I have a heat lamp set up in one of my coops. As the girl need they all wander in and out, warming up, then going out. I can't remember where i read that having a warming room for your hens seems to help them through the winter. My banty's get colder quicker as they age. One of o...

Re: Thermostat plug

The thermocube is preset to turn off at 45 degrees. I don't think that would be warm enough for my Seramas. I don't have a panel heater. I am using a 250 watt heat lamp. I used my thermo cube with a heat lamp in my original coop (4x3x4) it's well insulated. I've had it plugged in during this cold s...

You could try a flat panel heater. That might work for you. In the end my Seramas lived inside for the winter.

Re: Good Morning!

@Kbr42 It will likely be one of these, or something close to one of these....i don't remember paying more than 12$ a piece for them. but the exact one will depend on the voltage and amps of the wiring in the dish, so best to open it and find the number on the one that's in there first. 317-1492-ND ...

Now, when i get home from work i get, 'I moved the fence for the silkies, they didnt have enough grass and i think you need to build.......' When i bring them into th...

Re: Good Morning!

you can pop the bottom off and replace the thermostat. but once the mice chew into them they're toast. digikey is the place to order the thermostats, they come with the fins folded up, just fold them flat and unplug the black and white wires of the old thermostat, glue the new one next to it, and p...
