Re: Good Morning - 2023

Good morning all. I've been missing from here for awhile, and I owe my friends an explanation. Long story short, I took on too much and burned out hard, and also was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that I'm not sure I agree with. Either way, my physical and mental load forced me to keep scali...

Welcome to PTO! If you're looking for friendly, easy to manage and care for birds, muscovies are your best bet. No special feed requirements...they eat like pigs but thrive on whatever you give them. They're quiet! Apart from some quiet interduck chatting, almost silent. Good table bird and very goo...

Re: Beef cattle

Jerseys and Highlands can live ok off of crap hay. If it's really old or weathered, a vitamin premix to sprinkle on their feed would be good. However, it's unlikely you would be able to sell the steer on the hoof for anything more than peanuts, and would be better off to send to the abattoir and put...

Re: Sex that turkey!

Bruce Jen was confusing right from the start, and stayed that way. If I had to guess, think this is just a high T female. "Number 27" that I got from you doesn't strut or do other typically Tom things, but she is VERY dominant, hasn't laid an egg in at least two years, and has a six inch beard.

Re: RIP fawn killer (graphic pic)

The off-colours like black comes from recent interbreeding with domestic dogs. In wolves as well. Most wolf varieties hunt and kill coyotes. Kill off the wolves, and the coyotes move up and move in, which is exactly what has happened.

Re: How did I not see this forum before?

:stars: Welcome to PTO! It's hard to find a friendlier, more helpful bunch of poultry folk than those on this site. Red Sexlinks were my first also, and to this day my most favourite chicken was a RSL named Googles (because one eye pupil was perpetually pinpoint, so it looked like she had googly eye...
