Re: New Arrival

SO Clanger seems to be doing OK with his little family of 3 Wyandotte hens. He dances and brings them treats. Still a baby and races after other hens sometimes when they look like "his" hens. Very careful chap and likes to keep them rounded up and he has a good eye and call for danger. Like Lucky he...

Re: no-crow collar?

The only complaint I ever got from the neighbours was when dear Lucky died. Everyone missed his crowing and wanted me to get another! We are in farm country though.

Re: Good Morning!

:dunno: Lost one of my little Blue Columbian Wyandottes yesterday afternoon. It happened in the space of about 5 minutes and when I saw her dead on her back I was worried. On a closer look her neck looked odd and on a quick autopsy proved to be dislocated. Didn't see anything on security video becau...

Re: Question for Wyandotte or Heritage Chicken Breeders

Badstart fortunately you can just pluck them with tweezers (they will not be happy) or trim them. I hear you on the rapist roosters - I cull any like that. The rooster will make chucking noises to tell the hen he has found her some food even when he's not going to mate. All of my boys dance/d. Firs...

Oh @Badstart you may have noticed they have very fluffy bums. You may have do do a bikini pluck on the girls and boys.

Re: Question for Wyandotte or Heritage Chicken Breeders

My girls can be frightful snobs too, they have very clear preferences in roosters. They were fine with Lucky & Chunky at first and I got fertile eggs over the first winter with him and then the fertility went down after the January (these were pullets and hens). In May I still only got 50%. They muc...

Re: vernon auction March 16

Oh Jim that looks good! I really wonder about people taking sick birds to Auctions. I'd hate to see this one get a bad rep like some others. DO the organisers check birds on entry? One of the reasons I never take any turkeys to Auctions is I'd be too scared to bring them home if they don't sell. Not...
