Re: Good Morning 2025
You could try it! I left my Agapanthus (Lily of the Nile) in the sunroom all winter. I had planned to put it in the basement and let it die down, but it was so nice and green that I didn't have the heart. It was fine all winter, and even flowered! So in answer to your question, you could certainly t...

Re: Good Morning 2025
I'm lucky to have a sun room. We don't heat it, but it benefits from windows on 3 sides and is like an attached greenhouse. I no longer grow "early" tomatoes because they don't taste very good. I've tried the "Wall of Waters" too. The problem is that the ground is cold, and really has to warm up a b...

Re: Good Morning 2025
lolotsung Just one more night of cold, then they can be planted tomorrow! Hooray! Hopefully, the temps will be good after tonight. My tomatoes are planted (after I hardened them off), the eggplants are in too, and were nibbled by rabbits. I still have to plant my sweet peppers which are loaded with...

Re: Good Morning 2025
lolotsung I'm sure the tomatoes will survive if you give them a good drink of water! My own experiment "starting" tomatoes in an Aerogarden was interesting. Turns out that I left them in for too long and their roots were a foot long and had to be cut. One plant (Pink Berkley Tie Die) refused to ger...

Re: Good Morning 2025
I've used both potting mix with no nutrients as well as regular potting mix with slow-release fertilizer. Both worked fine for seedlings. I usually use Promix HP when they are tiny, then fertilize with fish emulsion when the first real leaves appear. For potting up, I use Promix for Herbs and Veggies.

Re: Good Morning 2025
What's wrong is the peat pots! Those things are NASTY because they dry out so fast, and because they restrict the plants when they are planted in them (even if we remove the bottoms before planting). I once did an experiment, as I had a lot of peat pots that I wanted to use up. Tomato seedlings grow...

Re: Good Morning 2025
[ lolotsung Well done! I started all my tomatoes, peppers and eggplants in AG's this year. I bought the seed-starter unit for the Harvest (23 pods) and put the tomatoes and eggplants in that. Picture below. The peppers were grown in a 9 pod Bounty. I actually left the seedlings a little too long in ...

Re: Good Morning 2025
Our chickens go to bed before it gets dark, so no need for a light :).
