Good Morning!

Happy Easter. I have chicks hatching this morning. I always get so excited over new babies. The last 8 from my hatch three weeks ago leave for their new home today and I have a bunch of new fuzzy butts to take their place.:) Have a Wonderful Day everyone.

Tom advice

I have a 4 yr old bronze tom who has been fine until recently. He has been getting aggressive with me. Yesterday he came at me feet first and hit me the chest before biting me, usually he just bites he in the arse. No killing him is not an option. I have pinned him down until he submits and that wor...

Good Morning!

Yotes are bigger and bolder than I have ever seen this year. I have a coy dog, she is lab, husky and yote. Some of the buggers we have coming in here are a bit bigger than her. They don't come one at a time here. Stay safe.

Good Morning!

Good Morning My Hubby just preformed a mini intervention. I was outside chipping the ice off of my windshield so I could go and get me a chicken. Hubby comes out and asks what in the heck I'm doing because He thinks driving 123 kms one way in the freezing rain for a chicken is a wee bit crazy. Maybe...

Calling all Rockstars!!

12038 Loved my little BRs from Freys but they laid a huge egg and ended up prolapsing. Also Columbian Rock crosses very pretty and "sensible" Great foragers all. Do the show type rocks have a smaller egg? I prefer the girls to have a longer life. In my limited experience show Rocks lay significantl...

Calling all Rockstars!!

I have one pretty partridge rock hen that is a pet. My barred rocks are from Cackle hatchery in the States. As production rocks go, I really like these guys. I had trouble with Frey's and Bonnies BR. Frey's were a bit aggressive and Bonnies had red leakage. I think I want/need white or buff rocks in...

Fertilty and hatch rate so far

Some of my birds are just staring to lay and the turkeys and ducks aren't laying yet. I just finished separating everyone into breeding pens last week, so I am hoping by the time I start collecting eggs they are all laying well. The ones that are laying have really good fertility, about 95 %. I don'...

11938 Ok, I'd like to also make note that while I was at Shirley's (BVF) yesterday and previously at Doug The Chicken Mans those guinea fowls have not been screaming like everyone has warned me. I even talked to the ones at Shirley's and they didn't make a scene. Are y'all fibbing to me? :rulez: So...
