Re: Day 18 - getting pretty anxious/excited

Still nothing this morning. :-( Tonight I will look for movement. Not sure where to make a small hole if I do find life though: At the top of the big end of the egg, or just above where the air sac starts on the side? If there's no sign of life in any of them, does anyone in the Ottawa area know of...

Hi Jaye, just read your post. I was on day 26 and removing the eggs but I checked each one but no pip or sound but I read somewhere that to be sure to make a small hole in the air cell and look for movement, in my very last one sure enough this one was moving inside so back in the incubator it went,...

So how many Jubilee Orpingtons have you got?
6 10 day old which are thriving, have 25 eggs due to hatch tomorrow (Tues) and another 16 due to hatch in 2 weeks plus another dozen coming in soon. Yes all Jubilee.

Re: My very forst Jubilee Orpington chick :)

Updated pic of Jubilee Orpington chick above and Emu chicks
Emu chicks are 26" to 28" tall so this compound is just temporary.

Re: Choosing an incubator?

Hatching day has come for my new "SVENZUN SVC-180 INCUBATOR." Very pleased, chicks look much better than when hatched in the cheap plastic models. Eggs in. 150 Into hatching trays 102 (unfortunately fertility was a little low) Chicks out today 76 (5 left in with rest of eggs) Expect to finish with ...

Re: Choosing an incubator?

Congratulations and thank you for the update, did you use the auto chicken setting or manual? I just put a few dozen Jubilee Orpington eggs in and set on auto, temp and humidity are right where they are supposed to be.

So what is your next batch going to be?

Re: Choosing an incubator?

Congratulations.

Lesley came up with a great idea utilizing a container and creating a vacume, I was going to put a small ball valve but his idea eliminates that. soon you will need the hatching trays.
