labradors , you can check for mites by wrapping some Scotch tape - sticky side out - in a circle around your fingers and pressing it against their butt feathers. We still have some kale plants under a cold frame, and some parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, walking onions, and spinach in an uncovered but mulched bed. The spinach was an experiment this year: it was my first time planting some cool weather veg for a fall crop - and I'll be doing it again next year...
