Re: Good Morning!

Sorry to hear you lost a girl @Killerbunny
That must have been kind of confusing finding her like that.

Re: "Forest" the laid back Lab

That's my chocolate lab to a T. He MUST carry something in his mouth. He doesn't care much about other dogs-prefers toys or humans and preferably not child humans because #1-they can't throw far enough and #2-HE is the child. He has multiple stuffed toys that have to go with him everywhere. He gathe...

Re: Hello from Markdale area

Hello and welcome. We are about an hour away from each other - I'm near Stayner/Wasaga Beach. Pretty sure I've been through Markdale! I started with 10 day old Barred Rocks from Frey's hatchery 8 years ago! So exciting!!! Pictures are a must!

Re: Prolapsed vent

Thanks for posting I have never had any luck with a prolapse, always seemed to happen again. Yes i know shes not out of the woods yet. Depends what the under-lying cause of those rubbery eggs was and at this point only time will tell. I will be very nervous when she resumes laying again. I treated ...

Re: Quail eye injury

Jaye her eye looks exactly like my old girl Miss Kitty. She's had her eyes picked at from an early age and she's having vision issues now. I will post a pic when I have time but my guess would be scar tissue as well.

Prolapsed vent

I found one of my girls with a prolapsed vent about a month ago. It was just luck that I was off on this particular morning and I sat down in the coop to observe everyone and noticed Stella walking funny and stopping to strain every now and then. I thought she might have a stuck egg as she had been ...

Re: Good Morning!

Sorry all. I have been on but haven't had much to say or much time to say it. I did deal with a very nasty prolapsed vent a while back that I will make a thread for when I have more time because I figured out a few things that may be helpful for someone down the road. It was Stella the baldy chick C...

Re: Hen with hole in neck :/

This caused me to go look for my Blukote in case @Giffen Farms needed it. I do have some Colin but it's expired :dunno: It's been kept in a cool basement since purchase so I can't imagine it wouldn't still work. Anybody know? What is that? I've never heard of it It's an antiseptic spray that stains...

Re: Good Morning!

Oh no. I think I've got a broody now. She's only 9 months old! Ellie May is growling this morning. My poor Cochin girl Stella seems to be having problems. She hasn't molted this winter at all and still has naked belly and butt from being broody on and off all last summer. She has continued to lay al...
