Re: Hen broke a toe

Well it's been a month since I first noticed Big Momma's crop issue this year. She has been back out in the coop for the past 2 weeks...not because she was cured but because I really didn't know what else to do and I figured she would either make it or she wouldn't. Nothing I was doing seemed to be ...

Re: Egg production, and lack there of

Hmmm so my detective work this morning has found that Gilly is still not laying. Her full sister 3 weeks younger than her Is the new layer that recently fired up.

Re: Old English Game Bantams

Speaking of...here’s some snaps from yesterday. The young Bantams first time feeling snow. Frankie was clearly angry with ...

Re: Hello from Hamilton

Hello and welcome! What everyone else has said...started with 10 day olds and I'm at 22 7 years later! I've never had Orpingtons but I've read that they are a very family friendly choice. Of the 3 breeds I have I would recommend Barred Rocks for a family as well. Curious and friendly. I'm in an area...

Re: Egg production, and lack there of

I had one more young bantam start laying this week and I came home tonight to Gilly's first egg! I didn't think she was going to ever start! Gilly is 7 months old and 3/4 Cochin 1/4 Barred rock. So my average just gained some traction.

Re: Lulu

 She's channeling her inner Cochin  Well she has grown up with big fluffy legged girls so I guess she's found a way to blend in! Lulu is the least friendly of all the OEGBs and she screams at other birds (and me) if we get too close. So I guess she's figuring out how to get through th...

Re: Lulu

Sorry but i am.just starting to get onto the acronyms..lol...what is an OEGB? Sorry Tom. It stands for Old English Game Bantam. They are small even for Bantam standards. Sort of half way between a typical Bantam and a serama. And they are quite sleek with feathers tight to their body. So I don’t kn...
