Re: Harrowsmith resurrected

I have a shelf full of the old issues. It was always my favourite. I’m going to be optimistic & hope it is great in its new incarnation!

Re: 7th Annual Canadian Autumn Seed Exchange

Hiya Jp,

Just message me your email & I will send all of the information along. There are a lot of generous gardeners, so even if you send in a couple of seed packs, you will get lots back.

Cheers,
Nicky

Re: 7th Annual Canadian Autumn Seed Exchange

No problem. Are you joining the swap? Or shall I just pop them in the mail for you?

Re: 7th Annual Canadian Autumn Seed Exchange

Yes, I did. I found the Kahnawake Mohawk creamier tasting in soup & a touch larger than the Speckled Algonquin. They were both well worth growing again!

Here is a photo of them side by side (Kahnawake Mohawk on the left, Speckled Algonquin on the right);

Re: What can I grow for the chickens?

Mine LOVE mint and currant tomatoes. They also like leafy veg, Kale, Cabbage & Brussels sprouts! I grow amaranth for them as well. I tie most things to the ceiling and let them swing it around the coop. They enjoy most herbs. Sage, Parsley, etc. Mint is by far their favourite though!

Re: 7th Annual Canadian Autumn Seed Exchange

Just a little bump in case anyone missed it... Last year we had 40+ gardeners send in packages. There is a bit of everything in the swap. Here are last years totals to tempt you! 1665 total seed packages, not including my additions. The breakdown, not including my additions to the swap: Just over 20...

Re: Mount Forest Fall Fur and Feather

Nearly bought some young frizzle Silkies and a quartet of rose combs, but behaved! I got in line to buy 4 maran chicks & ended up giving one of my boxes to a family in front of us, not realizing that they were buying the marans (; lol. I thought that I was supposed to have good karma! Ah well... may...
