Re: WTH!!!....this is NOT cheese
yep sad world we live in when food has to be cheap. Stonetown Cheese in St. Marys make some really great Swiss cheeses. There is also Mountain Oak in New Hamburg and Gunn's Hill in Woodstock that make great artisan cheese here in SW Ontario.

Re: Hello from London Area
Welcome to the forum. I'm near Seaforth and have mostly Basque(brown eggs) hens available but I also have a couple of Appenzeller Spitzhauben (white egg) and this girl available. She's a Maran's cross with an easter egger and she lays a dark brown egg. All were hatched in 2018.

Re: Plucking vs Skinning
all depends on age of the bird. When you do them at 3-4 months of age it only takes a few second to do the way Ross describes, but adults are much more work.

Re: End of an era.
I'm a dairy farmer. To me the only reason a smaller farm can still survive is because we do have quota. Yes it's not perfect but much better then the alternative. In the US a small farm is now considered 200 cows! Walmart has now put up its own milk plant and they are only interested in buying milk ...

Re: Tell me about Possums
I don't know much about opossums, one thing I do know for sure they will kill chickens. They cleaned out my silkies a few years, ate them from the inside out. I caught them in the act, insides were gone head, neck, legs and wings only thing left.

Basque Hen/ Euskal Oiloa
thank you, they are great producers as well. I had 14 chicks hatch last week and another 12 this week from these 2 hens! They went to a great home and if all goes well we will see them at the shows this summer. I can't take credit for their breeding, they were hatched from eggs that I got from Paula...
