Re: what's up?

She's probably laying up there....LOL. You'll know when it gets warm in the summer if it starts smelling funny in there! I have 3 girls that fly 16 feet up onto a 2x4 just under the barn loft. They fly straight up...somehow. Little buggers. LOL

@WLLady I tried several times with Frank and some green/olive egg ladies. EVery time they quit at the same stage. I guess some type of lethal gene. Anyway DH summed it all up "so it's a crap shoot!"
Yeah, he probably picked up some mutation or something....ug.

Your DH is not wrong! LOL

Guess i should start thinking about collecting too, i really have to get some younger birds this yea...

Re: Good Morning 2024

I think it the case of RIR there are the heritage RIR (dark mahogany) and the commercial RIR (lighter red egg laying machines....) and they likely mean the heritage RIR. it does seem pretty correct with what little i know about poultry in canada....

Re: Blue egg genetics

Easy question....complicated answer. One has to keep in mind that the rooster (the male chick's dad) has nothing to do with the egg colour that the male chick was laid in. The colour of the egg is solely due to the hen's genetics. So, a blue egg could be BW (blue white) or BB (blue blue). The rooste...
