Re: Guest Speaker Reccomendations

Thank you for these suggestions!! This is just the kind of support I knew I could rely on :) For TomK and baronrenfrew I'm sorry I've been gone so long! We've been drastically scaling down our flock since I moved to Guelph for school. Hopefully we will go back in head first when I finish school and ...

Re: Guest Speaker Reccomendations

I nominate @WLLady , PTO administrator, breeder and geneticist. Perhaps along with @poultry_admin , who although "not a chicken person", has extensive experience with chicken math and dealing with us crazy poultry people. That's a great suggestion! I'm fairly sure she taught high level genetics cou...

Guest Speaker Reccomendations

My co-president has a background in commercial poultry (where he will likely be finding his guest speakers) while I have a background in backyard ...

Mystery Hitchhiker - What Breed?

Okay, so I have absolutely no idea what colour his soles are, but I will let you know. He is black with purple and green iridescence in his feathers.

Mystery Hitchhiker - What Breed?

Hey all, so a local friend called us up last night telling us they found a big black rooster just walking down their rural dirt road. They asked around, and no one seems to be missing him. He's a really nice guy, good manners, seems very healthy, so we've got him with us while we wait for someone to...

Goats for a weekend - browse back bush FOUND

Ours have eaten Giant Hogweed (the natsy invasive) so I think they would have no problem with butter cup! Goats aren't neccessarily super picky about what they eat, more about when in the season they eat it. Our goats eat basically any plant they find - but they only eat them at certain time...

Goats do a great job of mowing down poison ivy! Just watch you don't get all cuddly with them... The oil ends up all over them as they wash, and definiely no goat kisses  :yay:

Pecking her new babies - advice please

Definitely (if you are going to go the foster route) put them under her at night - same way you introduce new birds to the roost. If you put them in a small, confined pace (just for the night!) the babies will be forced to sleep under her, so you won't have to worry about them getting chilled, and m...
