Re: Chanteclers

"They are healthy and have good body type. They are not show quality as their combs are not quite up to standard." Since I don't know what the Standard is I think they will be just fine for "Pet Quality" Chanteclers :wee: 1d0024fc-5d9a-45dc-8e3d-19a2ae957e1b.jpgcdbaa55e-7425-498b-a002-db3c544d8635....

Standard dark Cornish roo

Looking for standard dark Cornish roosters.
I'd take chicks but if there are adults around I'd prefer.

My rutabagas are runniing amok! Does anyone cook and then freeze them????
I have a lacto-fermented eastern european pickle recipe-much like pickled turnip but they take forever to cure.
I also have piggies for anyone with too much of anything or the cleanup after canning!

Re: Chanteclers

Has anyone ever heard of http://foxfirefarm.ca/chickens.html ? I was looking for chanteclers and found this site. Thanks! there are lots of breeders of Chanties around (including me). All depends on where you live as to how far away you want to go to get them. They are on the Heritage Livestock (pr...

Slate, bourbon red, narraganset and beltsville small white-my oldest BSW girl is an adult from Killerbunny back in 2016 and she is like the scrappy old grandma with her purse swinging-huge beard on her and puffs out like a tom protecting all the litt...

various breeds

i've had the same breeds for the past 10 years as listed in my signature, except for one change as of this year. Given I cannot find ANY new blood for my Exchequer Leghorns I've opted to switch over to Anconas. Same black and white looks but are on the Heritage Livestock list as endangered so better...

Re: Buckeyes

i'm back but a bit behind-hopefully next year I'll have eggs. I had 2 bad years with health and the birds suffered as much as me. So just rebuilding this year. On side notes, Performance had no buckeyes this year (from USA hatchery) and I see that DC has them but I don't like their quality-no idea w...
