Re: Ivermectin
Can anyone just pick up a bottle of invermectin/invomec from the feed store? Or do you have to have a pesticide license?

Hatching/growing my own broilers
Does anyone know if it's possible to hatch your own birds and have them processed at a government inspected facility? Are you able to get a form 300 from CFO if you hatch your own? In my small flock, I have 5 Barnevelder hens, 5 Cornish hens, 3 Speckled Sussex hens, and 2 Speckled Sussex cockerels. ...

If you could only keep one breed of poultry....
Even though I've yet to actually have personal experience with them, I'm going to say Chantecler! They are on my must have list for next year.

performance Poultry
I love that buff rock pullet! I'm hoping to move my birds into their coop this weekend so will be getting some better pictures soon. It's hard to get good shots when they're in their brooder/grow out pen. Everyone seems to be doing really well, though. I had one Speckled Sussex that was looking poss...

Why Is This?
I'm one of those people who will sell a dozen eggs for $2. I have more eggs than I can deal with myself, and it's more convenient for them to pick up eggs at the grocery store than to get them from me. I figure I need to give them a reason to buy from me!

Introducing chicks outside
Does anyone have any advice on introducing chicks to the great outdoors? My chicks are currently 3 weeks old or so. Is it appropriate to let them have short stints outside? Supervised, of course. They've been living in a brooder in the milk house of my barn since I received them. They're feathering ...

Pictures of your Performance Poultry Birds!
I got my Performance Poultry chicks on Saturday! I had ordered 5 each of Barnevelders, Chanteclers, Speckled Sussex, and White Laced Red Cornish. Unfortunately, they apparently have been having trouble hatching out enough Chanteclers so I didn't get any. I'm pretty disappointed as that was what I wa...

Adding whole oats to feed
16018 One thing to keep in mind, the prepared feed deteriorates when stored too long, the protein level goes down and the vitamins and minerals loose their effectiveness. Thanks for the reminder, Ontario Chick. I usually only buy my feed 3 bags at a time because I'm short on storage space so I shou...
