I can see the coop building lasting into the Fall as I figure out what I can do with the wood I have in the garage. The cochins seem glad to be outside. I think I have a buff rooster ...

Re: Good Morning 2025
So I have watched many coop videos. Many seem to be not predator proof. Maybe some people have very few predators? I saw a weasel a couple weeks ago. A fox on Thursday. Coyotes. Hawks. I feel like it is a huge challenge keeping them from getting eaten alive!

Re: Good Morning 2025
I think that people are typically busier now than e.g., 40 years ago. We are typically not getting enough sleep. We have one and a half jobs because most women work. The duties of a housewife are now split between two parents. Also, everyone around me seems to be on their phones. Old and young. Vide...

Re: Good Morning 2025
So I've been visiting my parents at their seniors home. What I've noticed is I very rarely see anyone other than the seniors. Where are their families? Most are autonomous many have walkers. Maybe 80% are showing some signs of dementia. I wonder if this is the best place for them. They seem happy...

Re: Good Morning 2025
I read this on a webpage about cochins. "The one exception to the cochinβs friendly personality are bantam cochin roosters, who can be a little cocky and territorial." Is there any reason other than selectively breeding for aggressive or friendly chickens for a bantam to be less friendly?

Re: Good Morning 2025
Chick plans... I am thinking of a large fenced area with fishing line across it. I saw this on YouTube. Not sure if this is a waste of.time and fishing line and possibly Lab will eat fishing line? Run can also be used for our Lab but Lab will eat the chicken poop. So either need to teach the Lab to ...

Re: Good Morning 2025
So i heard this loud clatter bang scratch slide bang scratch etc. and i was wondering what landed on our steel roof. I look up and there was a full grown bald eagle
on the gutter. It flew south but now I'm seriously debating whether the cochins should free range..
