Re: Garden Diaries, 2020

[ Anybody ever grow round zucchini? I bought and started regular looking green zucchini seeds (just OSC brand) but its become obvious that they were mislabeled. Wondering if taste is similar. There's an abundance of flowers so I'm not concerned about low yield at least. 20200630_113808.jpg [/quote] ...

Re: California Valley Quail

Do you go on FB at all? There is a great group called 'Backyard Quail". It's international, and people seem to ask about this breed and find them! Last time I had eggs shipped, it was ok to get them from the US.

Re: Frisky ducks

I have two female ducks.. Both lay eggs, both quack loudly. Today I saw one climb on top of the other, and when she was “done” they chased each other around and did the wing-flapping happy dance. I’ve never seen chickens do this. Do they? I can't remember any of our birds not doing the "Happy Dance...

Same here: Rhubarb Strawberry Crisp - or Rhubarb Mango Crisp, if I can find mango on sale. Baking doesn't happen often here, especially not dessert baking, and it's definitely not happening over the next few days in this heat. I dream of having a summer kitchen on days like this. The new batch of q...

Morning! ....barely. All you farm people are likely on 'second breakfast' by now, lol! Just wondering if anyone else is putting up rhubarb and/or asparagus at this time of year?

@spuddog59 , since your birds are somewhat cramped in their housing, maybe you could try modifying a J-feeder, so that your feeder hangs outside the pen/cage, like this "youtuber" did for his quail cages:

Ooooh, that was good! Thanks!

Re: Giant runt = giant slob!

O pigeons are notorious for selecting what food they want & very wasteful . If want to feed mixed grain feed what they will eat in 15 minutes once a day only or 10 min twice a day . take what’s left even what they throw out or if you want to leave feed in 24/7 Feed pellets I feed turkey finisher pe...
