I have been hatching eggs from my Serama breeding pairs for the past two years. This year the colours started changing in a few of the chicks and I got one with feathered legs. Can genetics change over time? Anyone else with Seramas ever have this happen? My birds are all clean legged and this was t...

Re: Serama rooster
The same thing happened to one of my serama roosters except I found him on his side. He was the most active of my little guys with no indication of illness or injury. Sorry for your loss.

Re: Not sure on the breed
The feathering look like Cochin for sure but the comb baffles me. Out of a dozen hatching eggs I got these two guys. They said they were from porcelain Belgium d’Uccle. The combs don’t match tho.

Never get tired of candleling
I usually candle at day 7 to keep my incubators full and take out the ones that didn’t start. I never get tired of seeing the embryo growing even years later

Re: Not sure on the breed
Pink skin 4 toes. I thought Cochin but they have the wrong combs. Wrong feathers and skin got silkies. Wrong comb for d’Uccle.

Re: Not sure on the breed
I’m going out to check but I’m pretty sure 4 toes fully feathered legs. They were the only two hatched from DC heritage poultry from a surprise dozen and were supposed to be Belgium d’Uccle but don’t have the same combs
