Re: Help me with my crazy hem
Update. I took her out for 24 hrs and put her back in. She seemed good the first day, was out in the yard. Then back in the nesting boxes yesterday so pulled her out again last night and today she is free ranging. Have to keep her out of nesting boxes.

Re: Help me with my crazy hem
So what if I make a nice bed in a hamster cage with some wooden eggs? Would she brood and then come out of it on her own?

And if I don’t? How long will this last?

Re: Help me with my crazy hem
She does not hiss but is very docile. More than normal and yes is fluffed up. I figured she was brooding.

Help me with my crazy hem
Help me with my crazy hen. I have 14 chickens, no roosters. One hen is in the nesting box most of the day and sleeps in there. Can’t get her out to get eggs or get her to resume normal routine. Any ideas??

Show me your coop
Show me your coop! We got 7 chickens a year ago. Made our own coop which was great for warmer weather but come winter wasn't warm enough. We bought a used utility tent and put it around our coop. But that was just a one year solution not long term. We have 14 layers now. Show me your coop. I'm looki...

Organic layer feed
So the past year we have been feeding our girls Masterfeed organic layer pellets. We get them in Komoka. I've called all over to try and find alternatives. It's about $30 a bag. I'm down near Sarnia. Anyone have a mill I haven't thought of?

Re: Hi from Camlachie
Ok thanks everyone. We got 10 from the hatchery. I put the old birds outside to roam and will add them back into the coop tonight and hope for the best. No quarantine. Fingers cross it works out ok.

Hi from Camlachie
Hi! New to this group. We got our chickens almost a year ago. Had 7 and are down to 4. Getting 10 new from the hatchery on Tuesday.
I'd love thoughts and advice on adding the 10 to our coop. When we added 2 last summer to our 5 we just added them and had no issues.
