other pretty breeds of poultry

Post by Home Grown Poultry » Fri Dec 02, 2016 2:44 pm

I was watching something on tv about Africa and noticed that there is always a chicken in the back ground. so I started looking up African breeds of chicken and then poultry. there's all kinds of wild poultry over there such as the guinea fowl. well check out this one that I'v never heard of before. simply stunning. if anyone comes up with any other breeds please post them. one can dream. I know there are a couple members on here that have some pretty exotic birds. :-)

Red Jungle Fowl, from India and other parts of Asia, this breed is what ancient man, 5000 years ago used to create the modern chicken. Darwin thought it was the sole breed used but modern geneticist have discovered the grey jungle fowl is also in the mix.

Like I said Sue... one can dream!!! I'm trying to remember the name of the member out by Ottawa, has cranes and the giant guinea pig? oh its a patagonian cavy! he has a bunch of these species of birds. too Cool! prolly in the hundreds of dollars each catagory.

Baron I did come across some vulturines in captivity but I really didnt look to close to see where they were located, they were kept in big avairies and fairly natural.

Crested Guinea Fowl, from Sub-Saharan Africa, way to cool of a hairdo. HAHA
